Profile/User Control Panel

The “User Control Panel”is where you can monitor, view and update your profile, preferences, subscribed forums and topics. You can also send messages to other users.

Getting to the User Control Panel

  1. Navigate to the st-clare.org Bulletin Boards.
  2. Login with your username and password (for help logging in, see Registering & Logging In )
  3. Click the link marked “User Control Panel” found at the very top left of the page, near the orange cross.

Managing Your Profile

  1. Click the tab marked “Profile” in the User Control Panel (see Getting to the User Control Panel above)
  2. With the “Edit profile” category highlighted (default) you can add information such as your website, interests, occupation, birthday, St. Clare info and other optional information.
  3. With the “Edit signature” category highlighted, you can add a “signature” or block of text to be inserted at the bottom of each of the posts or replies that you submit to the st-clare.org bulletin board.
  4. With the “Edit avatar” category highlighted, you can upload an avatar picture of yourself. Be sure to keep it small in size. JPG, PNG, and GIF files should be accepted.
  5. With the “Edit account settings” tab highlighted, you can change your email address and password.

Managing Board Settings

  1. Click the tab marked “Board preferences” in the User Control Panel (see Getting to the User Control Panel above)
  2. With the “Edit global settings” tab selected, you can change things like your time zone, and your contact availability.
  3. With the “Edit posting defaults” tab selected, you can request to be notified when replies are made, disable smilies (emocons), and disable signature.
  4. With the “Edit display options” tab selected, you can chose to hide media like pictures, flash movies, and avatars. You can also choose to hide posts older than a certain number of days, organize the posts by author, posting time, or subject.

Sending/Checking Private Messages

  1. Click the tab marked “Private messages” in the User Control Panel (see Getting to the User Control Panel above)
  2. To send a message, highlight the “Compose message” category and fill out the email form, specifying usernames (not email addresses) in the top field. Usernames can be found by clicking the link marked “Find a member” adjacent to that field.
  3. Unfinished drafts can be located in the category marked “Manage PM drafts”. Simply highlight the category to see your unfinished drafts.
  4. Your incoming messages can be read by highlighting the “Inbox” category.
  5. Your stored outgoing messages can be read by highlighting the category called “Outbox”.
  6. Sent messages can be read by highlighting the category called “Sent messages”
  7. With the “Rules, folders, & settings” category highlighted, you can create folders for your mail, create new filters for incoming messages, and rules for automatically managing the content of your folders.

Managing Friends & Foes

  1. Click the tab marked “Private messages” in the User Control Panel (see Getting to the User Control Panel above)
  2. Highlight the “Manage friends” category to enter usernames of people that you want to have quick access to or notification when they post something.
  3. Highlight the “Manage foes” category to enter usernames of people whose posts you wish to ignore.
